The clock starts ticking
It was nine o’clock in the morning when they crucified him. The inscription of the charge against him read, ‘The King of the Jews.’ (Mark 15: 25-26)
The clock starts ticking. The nails have been driven in, the cross beam raised with Jesus attached, raised so that all can see him, so that all can see his agony. The clock starts ticking and time begins to take on a different pace, for him, for the watchers, for the witnesses, for us. ‘How long O Lord, how long? (cf Psalm 13:1) The clock starts ticking and Jesus hangs there.
